Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Great North Run 2025 - Our Story
Friday 9th MayOn the 7th September 2025 we will be running the Great North Run for Parkinson's UK. Whilst we have done a lot of running together over the past few years we want to support this fantastic charity which is very close to our hearts.
Two years ago my mum (Reece's Grandmother) was diagnosed with Parkinson's. Whilst this is controlled by medication, there is currently no cure and around 153,000 people live with Parkinson's in the UK. It is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world.
We will therefore be running the world's largest half marathon, along with 60,000 others, through the streets of Newcastle to South Shields.
We would therefore be incredibly grateful if you could dig deep and give whatever you can. Any money raised will make a huge difference as every pound and penny helps bring real breakthroughs closer for people with Parkinson's.
