Belfast Marathon - 2024

Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Anyone can get Parkinson’s, young or old. Every hour, two more people are diagnosed.

There are over 40 symptoms. Tremor. Pain. Anxiety. Everyone’s experience is different. And there’s no cure. Yet

One of these people is Carol Ferry, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's almost 20 years ago with a young family of three children under 10 years old. The Ferry family have seen first-hand the debilitating impacts of this condition, but also what research can do. Carol has got her life back following life-changing Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery in 2022. She is now able to enjoy dinners with friends and travel abroad; things that were a challenge or impossible before her surgery.

This is a cause really close to our hearts, which is why we're taking on the Belfast marathon! Vicky (Carol's niece) is taking on the full thing, with a relay team of Sarah and Rebekah (Carol's daughters), and El, Max and Ed (close family) also running on the day.

We have seen the impact research breakthroughs can make. With your help we can fund better care, drive more research breakthroughs and one day find a cure. We would be very appreciative of any donations (big or small) towards this worthwhile cause.

Together we can find a cure.
