Belfast Marathon - 2024

Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Anyone can get Parkinson’s, young or old. Every hour, two more people are diagnosed. One of these people is my mum, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's almost 20 years ago with a young family of three children under 10 years old.
I have seen first-hand the debilitating impacts of this condition, but also what research can do. Mum has got her life back following life-changing Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery in 2022. She is now able to enjoy dinners with friends and travel abroad; things that were a challenge or impossible before her surgery.
I am proud to be part of the ‘Fast Ferrys’ taking part in the Belfast marathon in May (after doing my actuarial exams 😒), we are raising money and awareness for Parkinson's UK.
A few weeks ago I sprained my ankle, which is a bit frustrating - however, my temporary nuisance is nothing compared to the 40+ symptoms of Parkinson’s. Tremor. Pain. Anxiety. Everyone’s experience is different. And there is no cure. Yet…
We have seen the impact research breakthroughs can make. With your help we can fund better care, drive more research breakthroughs and one day find a cure. We are overwhelmed by the generosity already and would be very appreciative of any donations (big or small) towards this worthwhile cause. 💙

Together we can find a cure.

Thank you to my sponsors
