Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m taking part in the 2027 TCS London Marathon for Parkinson’s UK on Sunday 25 April and would really appreciate your support!
So for those of you know me, this isn't my first Marathon journey. So why go through the pain again you may ask?
On 9th July my Uncle Jim, Husband to Auntie Sylvia, Dad to Joanne & Michael, Grandad to Grace, Brother to my Mum & Auntie Dot....sadly left this world after a valant and brave battle against Parkinsons.
Beautifully described by his daughter, 'my Cousin' Joanne...
"Dad was, in every sense, a gentleman and a gentle man. He was loyal, polite and endlessly kind. He taught us the value of respect, of holding true to your morals and of always doing your best, whatever that looked like on any given day. He and Mum instilled in us that once you commit to something, you see it through and he lived that himself right to the very end.
As Parkinson’s took more and more from him, his essence never left. I watched him keep trying. Trying to exercise when it had become hard, trying to find words when they wouldn’t come, trying to finish a thought he’d lost halfway through. He never once gave up, even when his best was no longer what he wanted it to be and even when, at his last appointment, all he wanted to know was why this had happened to him and all he wanted, more than anything, was to “get rid of it”.
But something good has come from something so hard...."
Uncle Jim's last gift to this world was to donate his brain to research in the hope a cure can be found for this dreadful disease. A gift given to help others.
So, time for me to give something back. In his memory I proudly take on this challenge with Joanne & Michael by my side...every step, remembering Uncle Jim, everything he stood for and in the attempt to raise awareness and vital funds for Parkinsons UK.
Please get behind us and make a donation....every penny will help 🙏
Let's do this! *again x2 eek
