To my Grandad - naughty norm
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m taking part in the Great North Run on 13 September 2026 to raise funds for Parkinson's UK.
This in memory of my Grandad, my Gdad who was the best man I knew. And in memory of my Great Uncle, Uncle Viv.
It was a difficult time gaining a diagnosis for Grandad, even though he was clearly showing significant signs of this. When he eventually did gain a diagnosis, after several falls and being hospitalised, he passed away, in hospital, on the 1st February 2024 which broke mine and my families hearts. Prior to hospital, I used to visit my Grandad regularly, and stay in his home and support. Although as time went on, I could see him becoming weaker, struggling to co ordinate movements, supporting him more to eat, drink, attend to his personal needs. It was devastating to see.
Parkinsons has emerged in our family over generations. Sadly, my uncle has also been diagnosed with Parkinsons plus disorder. He is in his mid 60s and he is rapidly deteriorating. Accessing the care my Uncle needs has been slow and difficult on too many occasions. We are all concerned about his future, and this emerging through the generations of our family to come.
These are the exact reasons as to why I am supporting this charity. In honour of those we have lost, and the need for more funds in order for increased attention and support.
I will be running with my mum! It will be a challenge, however we have done it before and can do it again!
Please donate as much or little as you can. Every penny helps 💙
