Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m taking part in the Great North Run on 13 September 2026 to raise vital funds for Parkinson's UK. Running is not something that I find easy any longer and therefore crossing the finishing line in a remarkable time is definitely not as important to me as raising funds for a cause that is very important to my family.
As many of you will know Parkinson's disease has unfortunately impacted several of my family members in recent years but most notably, my older brother Paul, who continues to struggle daily against this very debilitating condition.
We need a cure and we need it fast. Parkinson's UK are supporting research into improved treatments, but for those who are currently suffering, this may not come soon enough. Receiving a diagnosis is very sobering and frightening and for these people and their families, the information and support they can access through Parkinson's UK, particularly the work of the Parkinson's nurses is vital. But there simply aren't enough of them!!
Please help by sponsoring my challenge. All money raised will help fund breakthroughs and help support the Parkinson's community. Thank you for any donation you feel able to contribute.
