We Did It!!!
Walk for Parkinson’s 2026 💙
Saturday was honestly one of those days I’ll carry with me for a long time.
When I first signed us up for Walk for Parkinson’s, I thought, what have I got to lose? It felt like a chance to do something meaningful as a family, support a charity that now means so much to us, and turn something painful into something purposeful.
I originally set my fundraising target at £250.
Then it became £500.
Then £750.
And somehow, through the kindness, generosity and love of so many people, we’re now sitting at £1,784 raised.
Overwhelmed doesn’t even come close. 🙏🏽
For anyone new here, my name is Satvinder Singh Dubb. I’m 38, from Bristol, and I was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s in 2025 at the age of 37. This was my first ever Walk for Parkinson’s.
And I’ll be honest — the build-up wasn’t easy.
My back flared up badly at the start of the week and I spent days hunched over and in agony. Huge shoutout to Gareth from Bristol Chiropractic & Family Clinic for doing what he does best and adjusting what needed doing to give me a little bit of relief before the walk.
Then on the day itself, I was running on just shy of 4 hours sleep, with an insane migraine that wouldn’t shift, even after taking Rizatriptan.
But we got ourselves ready, drove down to Blaise Castle, and made our way to registration.
From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt special. It was lovely to finally meet Karen Safe in person, and Ayrabella was absolutely in her element with all the stalls and activities. The face painting was a huge win 🦋
A big thank you as well to the officers from Avon & Somerset Police — the interaction and engagement with the kids was superb.
The warm-up led by the Bristol PD Warrior team went down a treat too. You had everyone moving, smiling and fully involved — proper PD Warrior energy.
Then came the walk itself…
And wow. I underestimated it.
That first incline before we even hit mile one was brutal. At one point I looked at Nikki and said, “Maybe we should have done the shorter route.” 🙈
But your mind is powerful.
I kept reminding myself why I was there.
For everyone who had sponsored us.
For Parkinson’s UK.
For those living with Parkinson’s who couldn’t be there.
For my girls.
For my future self.
I was carrying more than just the miles that day. I was carrying back pain, fatigue, symptoms, emotions and the reality of living with Parkinson’s.
But I was also carrying faith, family and hope.
That is what got me through.
The route was physically and mentally challenging at points. My back was stiff and painful, dystonia was doing its thing, and my body made sure I knew it wasn’t happy. But we kept going.
The encouragement and guidance from the marshals was honestly 10/10. Every smile, every bit of direction, every “you’re doing great” made a difference.
And despite everything, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I’m so proud that we completed it.
But more than anything, I couldn’t be prouder of Nikki. She was with me every single step of the way. I probably don’t say it enough, but she plays such a huge part in supporting me, encouraging me and giving me the motivation to keep pushing forward.
Because at the end of the day, I do what I do to make myself stronger. To slow down the progression of Young Onset Parkinson’s. To show my girls that their dad might have Parkinson’s, but Parkinson’s doesn’t get to take everything.
As we hit mile four, my mind started doing that dangerous thing…
I’ve actually enjoyed this… so what’s the next challenge?
So genuinely — any suggestions, drop a comment or send me a DM 👀
As we got closer to the finish line, Ayrabella ran over and joined us for the final few steps. That moment will stay with me forever.
We were also greeted and spurred on by Amy, which was a massive surprise and gave us both such a boost right at the end.
It was great to see Kev Fry from PD Warrior at the finish line too, congratulating us and giving those encouraging words that mean more than people realise.
And yes… the snacks at the finish line were very much appreciated and very much needed! 😂
I know it’s not about chasing numbers or times, especially when this was my first time ever completing anything like this, but I was genuinely buzzing to complete the five-mile route in 1 hour 43 minutes.
For anyone thinking about signing up for Walk for Parkinson’s, my message is simple:
Do it.
You don’t need to be the fastest, the fittest or the most confident person there. You just need to show up. Walk your walk. Bring your family, bring your story, bring your reason why.
The atmosphere, the community, the support and the encouragement on the day is something you need to experience.
Saturday wasn’t just a charity walk.
It was awareness.
It was family.
It was community.
It was hope.
It was proof that even on the hardest days, we keep moving.
For my girls. For Nikki. For Parkinson’s UK. For everyone living with Parkinson’s.

Speechless. Truly.
Nothing but love, gratitude and thanks for the anonymous donation today. Whoever you are, if you’re seeing this… I honestly can’t thank you enough. 🙏🏽🧡
Seeing Fueled By Dopa sitting 2nd on the Bristol Walk for Parkinson’s leaderboard is emotional. Not because of the number itself, but because of what it represents: people showing up, people caring, and people choosing to stand with families like mine.
This money is going towards Parkinson’s UK’s Nurse Appeal — helping fund new Parkinson’s nurse posts, specialists, training and support for healthcare professionals.
And trust me, this matters.
Too many people living with Parkinson’s still don’t have proper access to a Parkinson’s nurse. Too many are left trying to navigate symptoms, medication, fear, uncertainty and daily life without the specialist support they deserve.
That’s why we’re walking.
That’s why we’re raising.
That’s why every single donation counts.
From me, Nikki, Ayra and Gianna — thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Every pound helps bring specialist Parkinson’s care closer to someone who needs it. 🧡

I’m asking for your help. Properly.
I’m asking for your help. Properly.
Not just a like.
Not just a quick scroll.
Real support.
This year, I’m taking part in Walk for Parkinson’s to raise money for Parkinson’s UK — and this cause could not be more personal.
I was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s at 37.
Since then, life has become a constant balancing act of symptoms, medication, fatigue, pain, training, family, work, appointments, research trials, and trying to stay strong for the people I love.
Some days I look okay.
That doesn’t mean this is easy.
Parkinson’s affects far more than movement. It affects your body, mind, confidence, sleep, independence, relationships, and the future you thought you were building.
But I’m not walking because I feel sorry for myself.
I’m walking because I believe in research.
I believe in awareness.
I believe in community.
I believe families like mine deserve better answers.
And I believe that with enough support, we can help change what Parkinson’s looks like for the next generation.
So please donate generously.
£5 helps.
£10 helps.
£20 helps.
A bigger donation, if you’re able, helps even more.
And if you can’t donate, please share this post. That still matters.
This is personal.
This is urgent.
This is hope in action.

WALK FOR PARKINSON’S — TEAM FUELED BY DOPA 💙🔥
This isn’t just a walk.
This is movement with meaning.
Team Fueled By Dopa will be taking part in Walk for Parkinson’s to stand with Sat, his family, and every person affected by Parkinson’s — especially those living with Young Onset Parkinson’s, where the reality is often misunderstood, underestimated, or simply unseen.
Fueled By Dopa was built on a simple belief:
Movement is power.
Faith keeps us grounded.
Hope keeps us moving.
Community makes the hard days lighter.
Parkinson’s is more than tremors.
It affects families.
It affects confidence.
It affects work, movement, energy, independence and mental strength.
But this team was created to show that even when the journey gets heavy, we keep showing up.
For strength.
For awareness.
For research.
For better support.
For the families walking this road every single day.
We’re walking because every step matters.
Every conversation matters.
Every donation matters.
So we’re asking you to get behind us.
Please donate generously if you can — whether it’s £5, £10, £20 or more, it all helps fund vital support and research for people living with Parkinson’s.
And if you want to take part, walk with us, support us, or simply share the message — you’re part of the movement too.
Built on faith. Powered by hope.
