I'm fundraising to help my mate.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m taking part in the Great North Run 2027 to raise vital funds for Parkinson's UK. 

I don't like running...not unless there's a purpose to it, e.g. staying fit, playing 5-a-side, late for a train etc. I DO NOT run for fun. I'd even go so far as to say I hate it. But I hate Parkinsons more. I hate it because it forced one of my work colleagues and best mates of over a decade to have to take early retirement on health grounds. He should be enjoying a well earned retirement rather than having to contend with this illness. He is still the same mate he's always been, keeps active still doing a lot of the things he's always loved doing and isn't going to let Parkinsons define who he is but it does affect him. I know I can't cure it, though I wish I could, but if I can raise some funds to fuel the people that can then maybe, one day, he and thousands others like him can get back to just enjoying retirement and life. So I'm willing to endure running further than I've ever done before for a few hours if it helps transform the lives of people who have to live with Parkinsons every day.
