This is more than a walk
Monday 13th AprTwo months ago, my life changed in a way I never expected.
At 46, as a wife and mum to two energetic boys aged 6 and 9, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. It’s still very new, and if I’m honest, I’m still coming to terms with what that means for me and for my family. Some days feel overwhelming, full of questions I don’t yet have answers to. Other days, I feel determined to face this head-on.
What I do know is this: I want to focus on what I can control.
I may not have chosen this diagnosis, but I can choose how I respond to it. I can take care of my body through diet and lifestyle. I can stay active. I can keep showing up for my family. And I can use my voice and my experience to help others who are on this journey too.
That’s why I’ve decided to take part in the Walk for Parkinson’s.
I won’t be doing it alone—I’m incredibly lucky to have a team of family and friends walking alongside me. Their support means more than I can put into words. This walk is about more than just steps; it’s about hope, resilience, and not facing this condition in isolation.
By taking part, I’m hoping to raise awareness and funds to support vital research, better treatments, and services for people living with Parkinson’s. A condition that, until recently, I didn’t fully understand—but now is part of my everyday life.
If you’re able to support me, whether by donating or simply sharing this page, it would mean so much to me and my family. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps move us closer to better support and, one day, a cure.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for being part of this journey with me.
With love and determination,
Sarah xxx
