50 MILES, 3 DAFTIES & A PAIR OF M&S KNICKERS

Tuesday 8th Sep
Three non-cyclists had a thought one day,
“Let’s cycle fifty miles — ach, we’ll be okay!”
For Parkinson’s UK, a brilliant cause,
So off we went… to cheers and applause.

Pedal Trossachs! What could go wrong?
We’d trained a wee bit. We felt quite strong.
Then Scotland laughed: “You think this is fun?”
And promptly removed every trace of the sun.

The rain came sideways, downwards and UP,
Bouncing off roads like an overflowing cup.
At times we saw nothing — not road, hill or tree,
Just three soaking women shouting,
“WHOSE BLOODY IDEA WAS THIS?!” with glee.

The downhills? AMAZING! Exhilarating! Fast!
Flying through puddles, having a blast.
The uphills, however, require censorship here…
Especially THAT HILL INTO KIPPEN —
we’ll not repeat what was said here 🤬

Our legs started cramping, our backsides were numb,
And nobody warned us what cycling does to your bum.
There was chafing in places we won’t specify,
And sitting comfortably?
A distant goodbye.

The gels were boggin’, the Jelly Babies saved lives,
We ate enough sugar to feed about five.
Blood sugars challenged us, tried having their say,
But we weren’t letting THAT stop us today.

And then came the underwear tale of the ride,
The garment that protected both dignity and pride.
No Lycra technology or fancy cycling gear…
Just M&S KNICKERS.
Enough said here.

But behind all the madness, the rain and sore bits,
The cramps, soggy Jelly Babies and occasional fits,
Was a wonderful community cheering us through,
Amazing volunteers and an incredible crew.

So brilliantly organised, supportive and kind,
The sort of lovely day that stays in your mind.
We crossed that finish with enormous smiles,
Three “non-cyclists” who’d conquered FIFTY MILES!

We raised a fantastic amount along the way,
For Parkinson’s UK — the real reason that day.
And although our legs may never forgive,
What a memory. What a laugh. What a day to live.

Fifty wet miles with two of my best gals,
Laughing through misery as only best pals

Thanks to everyone who donated, helped, cheered and cared,
And to my two best gals for the madness we shared. ❤️

Would we do it again?!

We done it!

Tuesday 8th Sep
Just want to say a huge thank you to all you lovely people whom sponsored us.  We done it for dad, who surprised us by being at the finish line waiting with our mum ❤️ we are paying it forward incase we ever need Parkinson’s UK help in the future.  We had a fab day, tough at times, that hill into Kippen will never be forgotten, but laughter kept us going to the finish line!  Thanks so much for all the donations, support and lovely messages! It is very much appreciated xxx
