Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
In 2026, my sister (Sarah Meyers) and I have set ourselves a challenge! To take part in the Cardiff Half Marathon for Parkinson’s UK and would really appreciate your support!
Sadly we lost our Dad, Simon Meyers, on 4th October 2025. Growing up, Dad was a keen runner, completing many events from 10k all the way up to a half Marathon as part of Half-Ironman events, so this seemed like a good challenge that he would have appreciated!
The Cardiff Half Marathon 2026 takes place on 4th October, the 1st anniversary of losing Dad, so both Sarah and I felt it would be the perfect event to raise some money for Parkinson's UK in dad's memory. Dad had lived with Parkinson's for over 20 years, and it's only thanks to the time, expertise and on-going research of the Parkinson's nurses, consultants and Parkinson's UK that Dad was able to live life to the full whilst he was with us. He would have wanted this work to continue to benefit others in the future and hopefully find a cure.
