Cardiff Half Marathon

Monday 7th Sep

Dear friends, this October I embark on my next challenge to raise money for Parkinson’s UK by taking on the Cardiff Half Marathon.

This charity is particularly poignant to me, as my late dad was sadly overcome by this cruel disease in 2015…

We had an amazing life with him, full of happy memories of family holidays, his sense of humour, king of the BBQ, sunny days out in our boat and being the ultimate hardworking family man, but after after many years of battling he was unable carry on. The saddest part is that he didn’t get to experience meeting my lovely sons and watching us all grow up, which he would have loved and they would have no doubt loved back, but it wasn’t to be.

The battle he fought, and the care given to him by my mum and lots of other lovely people, was a testament to the dedication and bravery in his life, which I will look to emulate next month, and hopefully in other, bigger challenges in the future.

Right now, someone in the UK is diagnosed with Parkinson’s every 20 minutes , with around 28,000 people newly diagnosed each year — and there’s still no cure. The thing that keeps me going on those long runs is simple: I’m fortunate to have the ability to run and be active, so I will do it for my dad, who unfortunately couldn’t.

Important research from Parkinson’s UK can hopefully help find a cure to stop this disease ruining the lives of others in the future, so please donate what you can and help me smash my next challenge for a good cause!

Thank you!
