Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m taking part in the Great North Run 2027 to raise vital funds for Parkinson's UK.

Everything I do for Parkinson’s UK is in memory of my beautiful Grandma, Joyce. She passed away in May of 2026, after 12 years with Parkinson’s.

After seeing first hand, on a daily basis what this disease can do to someone, I want to be able to raise awareness and support all those with Parkinson’s and their families who care for them.

It’s a neurological condition with no cure, no real medication. Just those that can tame some of the symptoms for a while, until the tablets that they need to take, sometimes up to 6 times per day, start showing symptoms of their own. Unfortunately this can take shape in the way of hallucinations so vivid, they can’t tell what’s real and what’s not. Parkinson’s onset dementia, personality changes. Inability to swallow, body stiffness, muscle weakness where they physically cannot move themselves without help. Bed ridden for days. That’s just the end symptoms too. There’s 5 stages of Parkinson’s. Every stage brings its own set of challenges, none of which disappear or are replaced. Just added to.

So please help me spread awareness of Parkinson’s and if you’re able to, help me raise vital funds to support those with the disease! Together we can make the lives of those affected better! 💙🩵
