Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
Hi, I’m Molly and I’m taking part in the 5.7 mile Walk for Parkinson’s in Maidstone to raise money for Parkinson’s UK, in memory of my lovely nan, Gaynor, who we sadly lost.
She was one of the most caring, loving and strong hearted women I have ever known. Watching her live with Parkinson’s and seeing how it affected her over time was incredibly difficult for all of us. I wanted to do something positive in her memory, and this walk felt like the perfect way to honour her and raise awareness of a condition that impacts so many people and families across the UK.
Parkinson’s UK does amazing work by funding research, offering support to those living with the condition, and campaigning for better care. Every penny raised from this walk goes directly towards helping them continue their vital work.
We wish more than anything that she could be waiting at the finishing line with her sweet box and her little dog Pickle, just like she used to every time we went round. Without fail, she would always have a packet of Rolos ready for me, it is one of the many small, special things I will never forget.
Every step I take is for her, and for the thousands of others affected by Parkinson’s. If you are able to donate, no matter the amount, it would truly mean a lot.
Thank you so much for your support.
