Great North Run 2027

Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Why I’m Running the Great North Run ❤️

This year, I’m taking on the Great North Run for someone who means the absolute world to me — my grandad, who is living with Parkinson’s.

Parkinson’s came as a complete shock to our family. It has changed our lives in ways we never expected, and watching someone you love face a condition like this is incredibly difficult.

My grandad has always been one of the most important people in my life. Growing up, he was always there for me. He took me on adventures, taught me new things, made memories with me and, no matter what, I knew I could always count on him.

There were times when he would drop everything just to come and look after me. He gave me his time, his love and his support without ever expecting anything in return. He wasn’t just my grandad — he was someone I could always turn to, and he helped shape the person I am today.

So now, I want to do something for him.

I’m taking on the Great North Run to raise money and awareness for Parkinson’s, and I’m going to make the challenge as difficult as possible. I’ll be running it in my student paramedic uniform and steel-toe-cap boots — because if I’m going to do this, I want to push myself to my limits and make every step count.

Every painful step, every hill and every moment where I want to give up will remind me why I started.

I’m doing this for my grandad. For everything he has done for me. For all the adventures, lessons, laughs and memories. And for the man who has always been there for me.

Now it’s my turn to be there for him. ❤️

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will mean the world to me and my family.

For my grandad. 🩵
