Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
I’m walking to help fund specialist Parkinson’s care to thousands more people who urgently need it.
I was diagnosed with Parkinsons in 2023 when I was already contending with a rare genetic disorder and a heart condition but with the support of my family, friends and the teams at Enviraz (Scotland) Ltd and Enviraz Surveys Ltd I am able to Work, Rest and Play (Mars Bar advert!).
It is clear to me that everyone dealing with Parkinson's needs a strong support network.
The medical staff at the Queen Elizabeth have been great but it is apparent that there is a lack of resource including Parkinson's nurses and physios.
I attended a weekly circuit training session for Parkinson's at the QE with a group of 6 others which was great - knowledgeable and enthusiastic physios but it only lasted for 6 weeks and it was very disappointing when it ended.
I am lucky enough to see an excellent physio twice a week which helps keep me mobile and strong enough to cope and a lot of people could benefit with more physio and exercise classes.
It is our intention to participate in more fund-raising events going forward and your support will be greatly appreciated.
