London Landmarks Half Marathon 2027

Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

If you know me, you'll know that running is definitely not my forte. In fact, my loving husband regularly tells me that I look like the most unnatural runner he has ever seen in his life! Needless to say, signing up for a half marathon wasn't an easy decision.

The last time I completed a half marathon was around 10 years ago. Since then, life has changed quite a bit—I’ve had two wonderful children, and running has certainly not been a priority. So taking on this challenge feels both exciting and daunting.

I'm doing this for a charity that is incredibly close to my heart. My dad lives with Parkinson's, and seeing the challenges he faces every day has given me a whole new perspective on what it means to push yourself beyond your comfort zone.

There will undoubtedly be moments during training and on race day when I want to stop, when my legs hurt, and when I question why I signed up in the first place. But then I think about my dad. The obstacles he faces daily are far greater than anything I will experience over 13.1 miles. Compared to the challenges of living with Parkinson's, a half marathon is nothing.

This challenge is my way of stepping outside my comfort zone, just as my dad has to do every single day. I'm hoping to raise money to support vital research, services, and resources that help people living with Parkinson's and the families who support them.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help provide support to families like mine and contribute towards improving quality of life for those affected by Parkinson's.

Thank you for supporting me, encouraging me, and helping me make a difference. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some very unnatural running to do!
