Why we chose walkies for Parkinson’s

We’re taking on the Walkies for Parkinson’s challenge for a cause that is incredibly close to our hearts.

My gran lived with Parkinson’s for many years, and watching someone you love struggle with the everyday impact of this condition was heartbreaking. As a family, we saw first-hand just how challenging Parkinson’s can be.

Now Parkinson’s has touched our family again. My dad has recently been diagnosed, but because of complications with his other medical problems, he is currently unable to start medication.

This challenge will also be a very personal one for me. Due to my own disability, I will be completing the challenge using my wheelchair and walking whenever I am able to. It might look a little different for me, but every push of my wheelchair and every step I manage will count.

I’ll be doing it for my gran, my dad, and every person and family whose lives have been affected by Parkinson’s.

By taking part, we hope to raise money and awareness and help support the work being done to improve the lives of people living with Parkinson’s.
