FAQs
What is Walkies for Parkinson's?
Walkies for Parkinson's is a dog-walking challenge, where you and your four-legged friend walk either 30, 60 or 90 miles throughout the month of October. How you want to complete this challenge is up to you. Whether it’s alone or with a team, all you have to do is walk your miles anywhere, at anytime between 1 and 31 October. If you would like to do a different distance please go ahead and change your target distance on your fundraising page, whatever works for you and your pup!
Who can take part?
We encourage anyone of any age to take part. If you have any health concerns, please consult your doctor before taking on the challenge.
Is there a fundraising target?
We’re encouraging everyone to raise at least £50. All the money raised will go toward our Nurse Appeal, which aims to ensure specialist care is available to everyone living with Parkinson's.
Can we take part as a team?
Walkies for Parkinson's is a great team challenge! Spread the word and get your friends and family and their dogs involved. You can create a team fundraising page which will combine all your individual fundraising and show your team's fundraising total. Walk apart or together, the choice is yours.
How do I track my miles?
You can track your miles on your fundraising page, either automatically through a fitness app like Fitbit, or you can add your miles to your page manually. Follow our instructions here to track your miles. If you'd rather track your miles offline, then you can download and print a paper mile tracker PDF here.
Will I get a bandana and when will I receive it?
Everyone who raises £25 gets a doggy bandana for their pup to wear during the challenge. These will be sent from the end of September onwards, depending on when you hit your target. If you would like to purchase a cotton T-shirt to wear on your dog walks, these can be purchased on our online store.
