Brain Parkrun 🧠🏃✅

Sunday 30th Nov
Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for entering my Guess My Parkrun Time fundraiser and supporting Parkinson’s UK — it genuinely means a lot.

I completed the Cranbrook parkrun brain run in 24:15, and honestly… it was WAY harder than I expected! I had to hold the brain costume up with my arms to stop it bouncing and to give my legs room to move, which meant my arms were burning almost instantly. After the first kilometre I was seriously questioning all my life choices 🤣

Eventually I found a bit of rhythm with shorter, faster strides, but then on the final lap the brain actually started breaking on my shoulders. I ended up wearing it over my head for the last kilometre — not my most graceful running moment, but we made it!

Thanks to your generosity, the competition raised £330, bringing my total to £9,054 for Parkinson’s UK. 💙

🏆 Winning Guess: 24:22!

This was the closest prediction to my actual time. I’ll contact the winner directly to arrange their £50 Hanlees Café voucher.

If you’d like to see the chaos in action, here’s the video from the day:

Thank you again for all your support — whether you entered, donated, shared the event, or came down to cheer. Every bit helps towards my fundraising for the 2026 London Marathon.

Thanks again,
Tom

🚶We did it! The Car Park Walking Marathon is complete! 🧠

Wednesday 22nd Oct
26.2 miles. 170 laps. Just over 11 hours. And yes, I wore the giant brain costume the whole way, though I’m still not sure what’s more impressive, all of us conquering the distance or the costume holding together!

A huge congratulations to Tim and Dinah, who both live with Parkinson’s and completed the entire marathon distance. Equally remarkable were Bill, Ian, Steve, Simon and Sarah, all living with Parkinson’s, who each took on their own section of the marathon, pushing themselves beyond what they ever thought possible. Every single one faced and conquered their own personal marathon of a challenge.

It was amazing to see everyone come together, my clients with Parkinson’s meeting and supporting each other, my other clients joining in laps, and people from Basepoint Business Centre cheering us on. Even friends, family, babies, children, and dogs got involved, contributing laps and showing that every step counts. The sense of community, resilience, and positivity was unforgettable.

This event was about more than miles. It was about movement, visibility, and proving that together, we can keep moving forward, one step at a time.

Thank you to everyone who donated, supported and shared the day.

Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Tuesday 26th Aug
In April 2026, I’ll be running the London Marathon in aid of Parkinson’s UK. And to kickstart fundraising I will, together with my clients who have Parkinson’s, be attempting the arguably more difficult challenge of The Car Park Walking Marathon.

This is a cause that’s incredibly close to my heart. Over the past 8 years as a personal trainer, I’ve worked closely with some truly inspiring people living with Parkinson’s. It all started with Sally, diagnosed in her mid-40s, and since then I’ve been privileged to train and support several clients who show me every single day the power of resilience, determination, and most importantly movement. I’ve seen first-hand how exercise can improve strength, balance, mobility, and confidence for people with Parkinson’s. It’s why I became one of the first trainers on the National Register of Parkinson’s Specialist Personal Trainers, and why I’m so passionate about raising both awareness and funds to support the amazing work Parkinson’s UK does.
On 15th October, we will be walking 170 laps of the Basepoint Business Centre car park — the exact distance of 26.2 miles. Two of my incredible clients, Tim and Dinah, will be attempting to join me for the entire marathon distance, while my other clients living with Parkinson’s will be joining us in a relay-style effort to complete their section of the distance
This event is about more than miles. It’s about visibility (did I mention that I will be dressed as a giant brain?!), awareness, and showing that together, we can keep moving forward, one step at a time. Because every step we take brings us closer to better treatments, more support and, ultimately, a cure for Parkinson’s.
So if you can, please donate and share this page so we can reach as many people as possible. Your donation, big or small, will help fund vital research, support services and resources for those living with Parkinson’s

Let’s show the world the difference exercise, community, and determination can make.

Thank you for your support.

Thank you to my sponsors
