Why Parkinson's UK?

I am running the London marathon in memory of my wonderful mum, Helen, who ran the marathon in 2023 for Parkinsons UK, the same year she sadly passed away.

Mum was diagnosed with Parkinsons disease in 2019. After her diagnosis she chose to take up running, and went from zero running experience to running 5ks, 10ks, and a marathon, all raising money for Parkinson's UK.

In 2023, mum was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer and passed away later that year. The early symptoms of her cancer were repeatedly attributed to her Parkinson's disease.

Parkinson's UK provides free information and support on the disease, as well as funding research vital for our understanding of Parkinson's disease, its origin, development, and treatment.
