Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
I’m running the Great North Run for the first time on the 8th of September 2024 to raise vital funds for Parkinson's UK.
I am running the GNR this year in memory of my Great Uncle Simon, as well as to raise awareness about the condition.
As some of you may know, uncle Simon moved in with me and my family a few years back as he was unfortunately diagnosed with Parkinson’s and needed help managing daily activities. Uncle Simon had other health problems including pancreatic cancer and diabetes, but I remember him always being most frustrated by the Parkinson’s symptoms.
As a physiotherapist in the NHS, I see and treat many patients on a regular basis with Parkinson’s. Therefore, I have become even more passionate about ensuring crucial support is available to those living with Parkinson’s and families/friends who care for people with Parkinson’s (like my amazing mum who was caring for Uncle Simon full time as well as working full time).
It would mean a lot to me if you could support in any way possible. Any donation, no matter the size is hugely appreciated :) ! All the money raised will go to amazing Parkinson’s UK nurses, to provide much-needed advice, support and information for people who are living with the condition 💙💙💙🩵🩵🩵🩵
