Great North Run 2025

Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Thank you for visiting my Parkinson's UK fundraising page.

Having vowed "Never again!" after completing the Great North Run in 2019 (I collapsed 30 minutes after finishing the race), here I am doing it again.  I know, I know, but this time, thanks to my pacemaker, I'm bionic!

2022 saw me jumping out of a plane at 15,000 feet to raise money for Parkinson's UK (something I shouldn't have done with a heart condition - but we didn't know that at the time!) and I've not done any fundraising since...until now.  It's time to get back on the horse!

As a participant of a medical research study for Parkinson's Disease (and other neurodegenerative conditions), I know just how important it is to fund such studies/research.  There are so many new and developing treatments (as well as early diagnostic tools) in the making - science and medicine are on the brink of some amazing breakthroughs.  Along with other charities, Parkinson's UK helps fund these studies (as well as helping fund Parkinson's nurses and other areas of support and advice for people living with Parkinson's), and I would like you to help me help them by sponsoring me in this iconic half marathon challenge in September 2025.

It doesn't need to be a lot.  Maybe just the price of a beer or a G & T or a bottle of wine.  As Tesco says, 'Every little helps' and every little bit will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much.

Suzanne xx
