Great North Run 2026

My Reason

This year, I’ve decided to take on the Great North Run to raise money for Parkinson’s UK  a charity that means a great deal to me and my family. My grandma has lived with Parkinson’s for many years, and I’ve seen first hand how much the condition can affect someone’s health, independence and overall wellbeing. Over time, it has had a significant impact on her everyday life, making things that many of us take for granted increasingly difficult. Watching someone you love experience those changes is incredibly difficult. Parkinson’s doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed with it, it can affect the whole family. Seeing the challenges my grandma has faced over the years has made me realise just how important research, support and understanding are for people living with Parkinson’s and their families. That’s why I wanted to do something positive and make a contribution in whatever way I can. Taking part in the Great North Run is a personal challenge for me, but it’s also an opportunity to raise awareness and hopefully raise money that can help Parkinson’s UK continue supporting people affected by the condition, funding research and working towards a better future for those living with Parkinson’s. I know that every donation, no matter how big or small, can make a difference. If you’re able to support me, I’d be incredibly grateful. Your donation will not only help me get across that finish line, but will also support a cause that is very close to my heart. Please help by sponsoring me whatever you can. All the money raised will go to Parkinson’s UK nurses, to provide much-needed advice, support and information for people who are living with the condition.
