TCS London Marathon Sunday 2027

Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m taking part in the 2027 TCS London Marathon for Parkinson’s UK on Sunday 25 April and would really appreciate your support!

Parkinson’s UK, is a cause that has recently become deeply personal to me and my family.

Over my life, we have all experienced significant loss, with the loss of seven family members. Just as we began to feel we were finally moving forward from a long period of grief and illness, my dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s.

The diagnosis has rocked our worlds and brought a new level of uncertainty and fear about what the future holds - not just for dad, but for all of us who love him.

Despite this, my dad continues to inspire me every single day. His positivity, resilience, and determination in the face of Parkinson’s is incredible. He remains active, strong, and committed to living life fully and watching the way he faces this challenge has changed my perspective completely.

I’ve also struggled with severe anxiety, which came to a head in early 2026 during a particularly difficult time and through that, my dad’s strength, kindness, and patience in trying to understand and sympathise with my anxiety helped me more than he probably realises.

He has always been someone who would do anything for me - he once said he would “walk over hot coals” if it meant helping me. So I want to run the London Marathon for him.

It’s a way to show him how proud I am, to stand beside him, and to turn something frightening into something powerful and positive.

Supporting Parkinson’s UK means more than just funding research - it means helping people like my dad access support, advice, and a community at every stage of their journey. That is something I feel strongly about, and I want to contribute to ensuring that no one faces Parkinson’s alone.

This challenge is not just about completing a marathon - it’s about raising awareness, supporting families like mine, and making a real difference.

Parkinson’s UK. The charity that’s here to support every Parkinson’s journey, every step of the way. Wherever you’re from, whatever you need.

We don’t wait for change, we make it happen. We believe that together we’ll find a cure. But that’s not all we’re working for. We campaign for better health and care, fund research into groundbreaking new treatments, and run life-changing support services.

Families, volunteers, campaigners, fundraisers, scientists, health and care workers. We’re a powerful community united by one mission: improving life with Parkinson’s.
