Why I'm fundraising for Parkinson's UK
This May, I’m taking on a challenge that is both physically demanding and deeply personal: walking 100 miles.
I’m doing this in memory of my Gramps, who passed away after living with Parkinson’s.
One of the things that’s always stayed with me is that I didn’t get to see him when he was ill. That’s something that’s been hard to process. Missing those final moments, not fully understanding what he was going through at the time, leaves a kind of quiet sadness.
This walk is my way of still doing something for him.
Parkinson’s affects so much more than just the person diagnosed. It touches families, relationships, and everyday life in ways that are often unseen. Even from a distance, you feel its impact.
By walking 100 miles, I want to:
- Honour my Gramps and his memory
- Raise awareness of Parkinson’s
- Support people and families living with the condition
- Push myself for a cause that truly matters to me
There will definitely be tough days, sore legs, and moments where I’ll have to keep going purely on determination. But every mile will have meaning.
Because this isn’t just about walking.
It’s about remembrance, love, and turning something painful into something positive.
Thank you so much for any support — whether that’s a donation, a share, or words of encouragement 🤍
Good luck - thank you for undertaking this challenge Gramps would be very proud of you
