Why we are fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Two friends on a mission. 26.2 miles and no car to make it easier. Raising money for Parkinson’s Uk, this isn’t our first rodeo….but it may be the one where we fall off the horse!

Prepare to be underwhelmed

Saturday 4th Apr
Final long run (and a full dress rehearsal) before tapering and with 2 weeks to go until marathon day, this was meant to be a 20 miler. 20 miles of smiles. Instead, what unfolded was a somewhat unconvincing 16.2 mile walk/run hybrid that, quite coincidentally, finished at a pub. Naturally. Fuelled by flapjacks and Freddos, held together with determination, denial and enough nipple tape to turn even Kelly Brook into a man. Conditions included injury niggles, a touch of anxiety, and a lovely bit of wind & rain courtesy of ‘Storm Dave’ (how very British) just to keep things character-building. And yet….we got it done (sort of). Now the taper begins. Will 16 miles and a slightly chaotic training plan be enough? Absolutely no idea. But we’re all in now. Tubby Runster rolls on….slightly battered, mildly concerned, but still powered by snacks and the promise of a pint.
