Brighton Marathon 2027

Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

On 4 April 2027 I'm running my first marathon: 26.2 miles taking in Brighton and Hove, finishing along the coast.

Alongside wanting to do a marathon just to prove to myself that I can, I will be fundraising for Parkinson's UK. My choice of charity is close to my heart, both as a neuroscientist and as the granddaughter of someone who lives with Parkinson's. The charity funds essential research into treatments and a cure for this debilitating disease, as well as providing practical support for people with Parkinson's and their families.

I'm normally more into Munros than marathons, so this will be an entirely new sort of challenge for me, particularly training over the Glaswegian winter! So if donating towards Parkinson's UK's amazing work isn't enough of a reason, then you can donate in support of my self-induced misery of long runs with a headtorch in mid-January.

Anything you can chip in would mean a lot. Thank you.
