Why I'm fundraising for Parkinson's UK
I’m taking part in Walk for Parkinson’s 100 Mile Challenge to help fund specialist care for people with Parkinson’s.
I'm uniting with thousands of others, all passionate about improving life for people with Parkinson’s.
My Mum was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2018 and it was a shock to us all. But she had decided to face it head on and has truly become an inspiration. Not only does she continue to make the best life for herself, she actively supports her local Parkinson’s community by organising fund raising events along with knitting items and making tote bags. She’s also a member of ‘Shared Harmony’ (a singing group who sing for wellbeing). She brings fresh ideas to her local Parkinson’s group and really keeps spirits up within the community.
So taking inspiration from my Mum I’m walking 100 miles in May to help raise funds for specialist care for people with Parkinson’s.

Feeling optimistic - New target
Saturday 25th Apr Well, I’m overwhelmed by the support so far and as I had smashed my previous target, I have decided to increase!! 🎯
Ok we’re really doing this.
Saturday 18th Apr so just a bit of clarification, it’s not 100 miles all in one go! Yes I know you were thinking, she’ll never do that!!! It’s a total of 100 miles across the month of May. So that could be just over 3 miles a day or longer walks at weekends. Suddenly sounds more doable but those of you who know me will know I barely do a mile a day at the moment so it will definitely be a challenge. For me, this year is all about commitment to improving my health and what better way to start supporting me than by supporting the woman who brought me into the world and has become such an incredible inspiration over the past years since her diagnosis. She’s nothing short of unstoppable and certainly puts me to shame. So in an attempt to catch up!!! And to raise some much needed funds for a very worthy cause I’ll be donning my boots that were after all, made for walking. Wish me luck and please donate what you can.
