Bath Half Marathon 2026

My activity tracking

294
miles

My target 100 miles

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m taking part in the Bath Half Marathon in March for Parkinson’s UK and would really appreciate your support! Road running is not my thing and I'm really not sure my feet will appreciate the pounding.

Please help by sponsoring my challenge. All money raised will help fund breakthroughs and help support the Parkinson's community.

I have friends who have been supported by this charity so I'm pleased to be able to give something back to them.

Thank you so much for your support ☺️

Where did that come from!!

Sunday 1st Mar
Course PB at parkrun and fastest time for the year on an undulating course yesterday. After a week of big mileage as I ran the Rombalds Stride route on Monday as a tester, my slowest running time of the route but I was self supported so loaded up with food and water. A gorgeous but blustery day.  Good day our on the Ilkley Moor fell race today. 2 weeks to go to the Bath half!!

3 weeks to go!!

Sunday 22nd Feb
I've not really had enough time on tarmac so ran to and from parkrun yesterday with Sri, 3.5 miles each way with the parkrun sandwiched in-between. In the end I was asked if I could volunteer as they were short. I was to hand out tokens so they were happy for me to run the first of 3 laps but I set of early and ended up finishing my 2nd lap just as they were starting, so I got the milage and volunteer credit. Good to give back which is what I'm hoping people will do this week as they sponsor me. Today was a recce of a 5 mile fell race that we're doing next Sunday, we successfully managed to recce all the wrong turns but then met someone who reassured us the race will be marshalled on race day, phew. There are just too many choices up on Ilkley Moor.
Katie gave me a sports massage on Friday and it was very painful but SO good. I confessed that I've not been using my foam roller but she knew just from touching me.

Ramping up the miles

Monday 16th Feb
So I've been concentrating more on miles this last week but not enough flat tarmac runs and so far no speed work! I was delighted to go out with my friend Sri as he trains for his first marathon. 16 miles along the canal tow path, flat tarmac the whole way. I'm delighted that I'm not aching today as I thought my legs would complain about running on such an unrelenting surface with no boggy mud to soften the pounding. I will concentrate on what my Garmin coach has for me this week though as with a month to go I need to speed up!!

Good block of training

Saturday 31st Jan
I've run 3 times this week, which is good for me. I had a sore throat on Wednesday evening which is always a warning shot before I slide into a recurrence of ME. Did I do too much this week with a 10k on Monday and 7 mile son Wednesday when I've not done much mileage this year?  Luckily being retired means I had a guilt free lazy Wednesday evening and Thursday and the sore throat went. I was therefore delighted to get my fastest parkrun time of the year this morning! I was also delighted to receive my trophies for being Ladies winner of the Pudsey Pacers Club Championship events for 2025.

Week 2 of training.

Saturday 24th Jan
Managed a couple of runs plus strength & conditioning and twice on the bike turbo training. Enjoyed the slightly undulating Haldon Forest parkrun this morning. Pleased with consistent running despite 89m of climb only 41 seconds slower than last weeks flat parkrun.

Muddy winter league run

Sunday 18th Jan
Out with the club in the mist this morning for a wonderful run in the mud. As usual I was overtaken loads on the tarmac sections but my mudclaws helped me power past people on the muddy hills. Great way to start the day. Race plan said I needed to do an 80 minute run so I’m a bit behind!

Parkrun day

Saturday 17th Jan
Thanks to Sri for motivating me to get to parkrun and Pete and Liz for their first donation. This mornings parkrun taught me I have a lot of work to do if I think I can get anywhere near under 2 hours. I need to average under 9 minutes per mile, this morning I managed 9:04 for just 3.1 miles!! It's amazing what you can do when someone over takes you near the end and you think I can do better than this, my mileage splits were 9.11 for the first mile, 9.09 for the 3nd and 8.55 for the 3rd and all because I was overtaken and decided I could finish before her which I did!

Training has begun!

Friday 16th Jan
When my niece suggested a 10k morning run I thought I have to give it a go. Luckily the rain stopped by the time we started running and she slowed down so I could keep up with her but it was a great way to boost my training.
