Im walking for my

Dad who is very brave and determined despite the many challenges of

living with Parkinson’s. Every step I take is a step toward a cure for this disease.

I’m taking part in Walk for Parkinson’s 100 Mile Challenge to help fund specialist care for people with Parkinson’s.

I'm uniting with thousands of others, all passionate about improving life for people with Parkinson’s.

Challenge complete!

Sunday 1st Jun
I split yesterday’s walking into three shorter walks as my goal was 4 miles to get to a round figure of 125 overall! It was an unexpectedly hot day! All walks were local with Herbie in tow and my AirPods on listening to my book. I’ve almost finished the second book of the month now. Listening has kept me going as I save the books for when I’m walking! Thank you to everyone who has supported me. I loved the challenge and am glad to have raised much needed funds for Parkinson’s UK.

Birthday Walk

Saturday 31st May
A great walk on the penultimate day of the challenge across Wakering Common and around the sea wall. This was a lovely circular route of just over 2 miles. It was unexpectedly warm so the sea breeze was a welcome relief.

Trainers!!

Friday 30th May
These trainers have been with me on almost all of my walks so far this month! They are a bit tired and worn out but very comfy!! This photo is me doing some stretches under the trees at Southchurch Park with the Wednesday group!!

Smelling the roses

Thursday 29th May
One of my Favourite things to do when walking in May is smell the roses that are in full bloom. Takes me right back to my childhood of making rose petal perfume in a jam jar.

Record day of walking

Thursday 29th May
Spent a whole day walking around Cambridge and Grantchester Meadows. Beautiful
Place to walk and good to be somewhere different!

Two days of walking in Cambridge

Thursday 29th May
Spent two lovely days in Cambridge - walking about 11 miles on the first day and 5 miles on the second. Walked all along the river and round the sites, finished off with a lovely walk at Grantchester Meadows.

Saturday 17th May

Saturday 17th May
Beautiful walk at Cherry Orchard. Herbie enjoyed paddling in the stream and finding a stick at least 1.5 metres long to drag around to the amusement of many other walkers!

Saturday 3rd May

Saturday 10th May
10k today and oh my did I feel it the next day! (Writing this after the event!)
Probably not helped by the fact that I started the day taking part in a bleep test…too competitive for my own good.
Racked up the miles though today and ended it with a lovely fire pit at the Piercy’s which was much needed as the weather turned very chilly!

Friday 2nd May 2025

Friday 9th May
A busy day with new plants, tomato plants and walks. I was pleased with my weeks activity so far. Local walk in the evening as ran out of time to go anywhere further and Herbie had been to school all day so he was exhausted!

Thursday 1st May 2025

Friday 9th May
The first day of the month and an evening walk to Mum and Dad’s to tell them that I had officially started the challenge. Weather is beginning to get chillier but I’m getting more into my audible book so I’m looking forward to the walk to hear another chapter of my book.

Wednesday 30th April.

Friday 9th May
Last day before the official challenge begins, but I’m please that I’ve chipped away at the target ahead of time, as it gives me some recovery time if I need to have a rest day. The weather has continued to be warm and sunny and this evening’s walk was in the peace and beauty of Barling. Accompanied by Amelia, Samuel and Herbie (of course!)

Friday 9th May
Still the glorious weather continues. How lucky to start my challenge with lovely evening walks in the sunshine. This time a loop along the seafront and into the garrison. Hoping this weather continues.

Friday 9th May
Beautiful weather and I’m starting this years walk a few days early. Due to injury at the end of last summer I need to work out how much I can walk each day, so I’ve started a few days early to give myself a bit of leeway.
Really warm and sunny evening and a beautiful evening walk at Cherry Orchard. Herbie loved it, dipping in and out of the stream like it was summer! Feel like I’ve committed now and I can do this Challenge once again!

Back on it

Friday 25th Apr
A chilly day today, unlike day 1 last year which was a beautiful
sunny day. Listened to my audible
Book whilst I walked. Am up to chapter 7 and not really into it yet as I seem to get distracted when walking and even though it’s playing in my ears,
My
Mind wanders and  I realise I have to rewind as I’m
Not always listening! Downloaded a new app that is called
Active

And
Measures briskwalking in 10 minute segments which was quite a good motivator!
