Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
I’m taking part in Walkies for Parkinson's to help fund specialist Parkinson’s care to make sure no one faces Parkinson’s alone,
Thousands of us are uniting to help people with Parkinson’s, and those who love and care for them, get access to the support they need.
My mum was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at just 24 years old. She is now 65, and I’ve seen firsthand how much this cruel, progressive condition can affect someone’s life—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too.
Over the years, Mum has faced so many challenges, including struggles with her mental health, and she has now also been diagnosed with Parkinson’s dementia. It’s heartbreaking to see someone you love so much have to deal with so much, and I wish more people understood just how much Parkinson’s can affect a person and their family.
That’s why I’m taking on this challenge. My target is to walk 60 miles throughout October, with every single mile dedicated to Mum and to everyone else affected by this devastating condition. 💙
I want to do my bit to support Parkinson’s UK, raise awareness and help ensure that people living with Parkinson’s, along with their families and carers, can access the support, care and research they desperately need.
