Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Support My Charity Walk for Parkinson’s - Every Step Counts!

This October, I’m taking on a special challenge: 30-miles of sponsored dog walking to raise awareness and funds for Parkinson’s UK.

But for me, this walk isn’t just about raising money; it’s about building community. It’s my first event since helping to run the local Parkinson’s support group at Washington, West Sussex, and I’m hoping to get to know our incredible members while doing something positive.

Join Me for the Walk or for a cuppa after !

I’ll be walking every weekday from 12:15pm to 1:15pm throughout October, starting and finishing at the local café in Southwater Country Park, West Sussex. Whether you can join for a quick chat, have a cuppa or join in with some walking everyone is welcome. Bring your friends and family - let’s turn these walks into something joyful!

Why I’m Walking:

This cause is deeply personal to me, as my Grandpa, Dad, and now my Mum have all lived with Parkinson’s, and I’ve seen firsthand the struggles they’ve faced.

Together, we can make a real difference for those living with Parkinson’s. Thank you so much for your support!

Let’s walk, talk, eat cake and make strides against Parkinson’s.

Every day I will take pictures and update our dog walking adventure.

Day 30

Wednesday 30th Oct
Today was a special day ! My Dad was amazing and did not let Parkinson’s get in his way. I know 100% he would have joined me at the Country Park everyday ❤️ and if it was a bad day he would have chatted to the staff in the cafe and had some food. Or even more likely ended up playing cards or doing magic with people in the cafe. I felt very lucky 🍀 to have so much support today and Wow !! so many more donations. My daughter raised over £1000 for Parkinson’s a few years ago walking 55km, as a family we are determined to help those living with the disease ❤️

Update

Tuesday 29th Oct

Sorry for the quiet these past few days—we’ve been working hard to get Mum back on her feet. The timing of the help she needs has often overlapped with my lunch breaks, which I usually use for walks.

But tomorrow, I’ll definitely be out walking. It’s both my Dad’s birthday and the anniversary of his passing. I’ll be joined by one of my daughters, his sister, and Diana who puts people  living with Parkinson’s through their paces with great workouts at the Washington group and many other places. My Dad would have loved her as he was keen to keep moving.
