Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

I’m taking part in Walkies for Parkinson's to help fund specialist Parkinson’s care to thousands more people who urgently need it.

Thousands of us are uniting to help people with Parkinson’s, and those who love and care for them, get access to the support they need.

Why am I doing this challenge?

Tuesday 30th Sep
My main reason for wanting to raise money for Parkinson’s UK is that my lovely dad is living with Parkinson’s and it’s really hard  to see him struggle with everyday tasks and independence. He has had to go to live in a care home temporarily due to being unable to manage the stairs at home and he is increasingly needing help and support.

Parkinson’s is affecting his mobility and co-ordination and he is also experiencing some symptoms of Parkinson’s Dementia.

Ultimately I would like there to be a cure for Parkinson’s and I’m hoping that by fundraising I can contribute in a small way to this goal.

Dad loves Daisy and she has been able to visit him in the care home, which has cheered him up. They share a very special bond and he used to enjoy throwing a ball for her which is her favourite activity. She is helping me with this challenge by walking with me. If I can raise £25 she’ll get a bandana to wear while she’s walking.
