Great South Run 2026

My activity tracking

7
miles

Parkinsons UK

On October 30th it will be the 5 year anniversary of Dads passing. Dad sadly suffered with Parkinson’s, which prevented effective treatment of his prostate cancer, ultimately leading to a premature passing.

So, October 18th 2026. I am running the AJ Bell Great South Run. 10 miles (16.1km) and I’m raising money for Parkinson’s UK to help in their incredible work to research this awful disease and investigation into finding preventative measures and hopefully one day a cure.

I know we all have a lot of charity thrown at us these days, but if anyone could spare a few quid towards my fundraising efforts, it would truly mean the world to me ❤️

Training Week 1 - Day 1 to 3

Wednesday 13th May
A couple of small runs in the first few days to get the legs moving and easing in to the larger training plan.

Training plan is through the Runna app which has been amazing.

Monday:

4K at conversational pace (6:10/km MAX PACE) - This was a very strange run, having to hold back and go at a slower pace when all I want to do is attack the pace, but I know it's for the greater good and I had to stick to the session guidelines.

Distance: 4.03km
Time: 25:12
Avg Pace: 6:15/km

Tuesday

A bit more fun on this run, a 6K progressive long run. First 2km at a conversational pace again (6:10/km), into 1km at 5:50/km, into 1km at 5:45/km, into 1km at 5:20/km, before finishing with a 1km at conversational pace again.

Legs felt good, nice easy run, annoyingly got 2 blisters on the outside of the feet halfway along the foot, so have ordered some proper running socks to avoid any more from cotton socks.

Distance: 6.05km
Time: 34:47
Avg Pace: 5:45/km

No more scheduled runs now until Friday, a 4km Progressive Tempo run.

Launch!
