Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

I’m taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon on the 25th of May in support of Parkinson’s UK, and I’d be so grateful for your support.
My wonderful Dad, Paul, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2022. Every hour in the UK, two more people are diagnosed — that’s around 18,000 people every year. Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world, and currently, there’s no cure. Right now, over 153,000 people in the UK are living with the condition.
Since his diagnosis, my Dad has handled everything with such strength, patience, and humour. He’s stayed just as active, supportive, and funny as ever — and has taught me a lot about managing challenges with a positive mindset.
As your daughter, I’m so thankful that Leah and I have never felt like Parkinson’s has slowed you down. You’ve always been the same fantastic Dad, and we love you so much. I’m really proud to be running this for you — especially as it falls on your 70th birthday! (Please don’t expect a gift… this is all you’re getting.)
It means so much to support Parkinson’s UK and to be doing this for my Dad.
