If Ben Can Do That, I Can Do This
A couple of months ago I saw a LinkedIn post from Ben Gee.
Ben shared that he was about to undergo brain surgery as part of his treatment for Parkinson's.
I don't know Ben personally, but his post stopped me in my tracks.
Here was someone facing a challenge that most of us can barely imagine, yet his focus wasn't on seeking sympathy. It was on raising awareness, supporting others and continuing to make a difference.
It made me stop and think.
So when the opportunity came up to support Parkinson's UK by taking part in the Hat and Home Spinnaker Tower Abseil, I decided to get involved.
Now, anyone who knows me will tell you that voluntarily stepping off the side of a very tall building is not high on my list of favourite activities. In fact, it's pretty close to the bottom.
But compared to the challenges faced every day by people living with Parkinson's, an abseil is a small thing.
I'm taking part to help raise money for Parkinson's UK and the incredible work they do supporting people living with the condition, funding research and working towards better treatments and ultimately a cure.
