Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
Thank you for visiting my Manchester Marathon fundraising page.
11 years ago my step dad, Richard was diagnosed with Parkinsons (PD).
It was diagnosed early and he was given the opportunity to take part in medical research and forward thinking treatment for PD. He has visited specialists under the NHS and undergone multiple cognitive tests to measure the impact of PD.
The most inspiring thing that has happened is that Richard was given the opportunity to undergo deep brain stimulation (DBS) in 2022. This procedure was incredible and really took my breath away about the possibilities of treatment for people with PD. Overnight his physical side effects from PD were minimised and his ability to do everyday tasks greatly increased.
I want to share Richards story through my fundraising and give hope to other people suffering from PD that with more funding in research and treatment more people could benefit in the way Richard has.
This will be my first official marathon, I want to run it in under 4 hours and every pound donated will push me harder to achieve this!

Wednesday 15th Oct Even though I won’t start my actual training plan for another 10 weeks I am still running routinely. I have a 10km race in November then it’s all in training for Manchester. ShareThank you to my sponsors
