Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
I’m running the Brighton Marathon for Parkinson’s in memory of my grandad, Malcolm Dockerill a true legend.
My grandad wasn’t just my hero, he was a huge part of the Brighton community. Through his much loved local business, Dockerills, he knew everyone and everyone knew him. He was kind, hardworking, full of character, and always had time for a chat or a laugh. To many, he was a familiar face to us, he was everything.
Watching Parkinson’s slowly take hold of someone you love is heartbreaking. It’s a cruel, unforgiving disease that changes lives, not just for those diagnosed, but for the families who stand beside them. Losing my grandad to Parkinson’s has left a hole that will never be filled.
Running this marathon is my way of honouring his life, his strength, and the incredible impact he had on so many people. Every mile I run is for him, and every donation will help fund vital research, support, and care for those living with Parkinson’s today.
