We're walking for Parkinson's

Mousse and Maisie will be taking me out, aiming to clock up 60 miles throughout October (although I'm sure the dogs will beat me on that!), raising funds for Parkinson's UK.

Thereā€™s no cure for Parkinsonā€™s. Yet.

Whilst we have a family connection to the cause, we're lucky enough not to have needed support from Parkinson's UK yet, but it's so reassuring to know the range of support and guidance they provide to people with Parkinsonā€™s and their loved ones.Ā

Since joining the charity as an employee in July I have been blown away by the impact I've already seen and heard, and feel incredibly proud to work for a charity that takes such a principled and values-led approach to its vital work.Ā

Fundraising for Parkinson's UK means contributing to groundbreaking research into the causes, treatments and hopefully one day a cure.Ā

It also means contributing to a huge network of support, both emotional and practical, for people living with Parkinson's and their families.Ā

Embarking on a walking challenge might seem easy at first- but if you know my dogs, and the rate at which they manage to injure either themselves or me, it becomes somewhat of an extreme sport.
Aiming for 60 miles also means I can't cop out by standing at the park and throwing a ball...Ā

So we'll appreciate words of support, sharing my page, deliveries of treats and tennis balls, and of course any pennies you can contribute towards such an important cause.Ā

You can find out more about the work Parkinson's UK does on their website:Ā https://www.parkinsons.org.uk

Walkies at the beach!

Sunday 20th Oct
Our #WalkiesForParkinsons took us to the beach today on a beautiful autumn afternoon. Lots of running and rolling and splashing, but unfortunately Maisie cut her paw pads so we had to stop short and get her cleaned up and bandaged up!Ā

I did say that walking these two Mr Bumps injury-free for a month would be a challenge šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸ˜ž poor Maisie will be bandaged and wearing booties for a few days at least, so Mousse will be flying the Walkies flag solo!Ā

It's all for a great cause, and with just 11 days to go we've got 21 miles left to cover. Let's hope for a speedy paw recovery for Maisie and no more injuries please!! šŸ¤žšŸ¼šŸ¤žšŸ¼šŸ¤žšŸ¼

Thanks so much for all the support so far šŸ©µĀ

Day 4!

Friday 4th Oct
We're on to day 4 of our #WalkiesforParkinsons challenge and we're just about on track having done around 7.8 miles so far.Ā

Turns out a mile is further than I thought šŸ˜… but I suppose it wouldn't be a challenge if it wasn't challenging!Ā

We got our bandanas, and the doggos are not convinced... but I think they look great šŸ¤šŸ©µ

We've had beautiful bright autumn mornings this week which makes it much lovelier, so let's hope it continues!Ā

Remembering that it's all for the brilliant cause of raising funds for Parkinson's UK - a charity that is solely reliant on generous donations and which does hugely impactful work supporting people with Parkinsonā€™s and their families, whilst carrying out vital and groundbreaking research.Ā

Thank you so much for the donations and support so far!Ā

Any words of encouragement or little treats welcome, and we'll be so grateful for any donations big or small šŸ©µšŸ¾Ā

Day 1!

Tuesday 1st Oct
So it begins!Ā
Luckily the rain that was forecast stayed away, and though we only had time for a shorter walk before work we did see some of our doggo friends at the park for a little run around!

I had my welcome day at Parkinson's UK last week too, and heard more about the history of the charity, the different services and research programmes, and heard from a man living with Parkinsonā€™s about the huge impact the charity has had on his life and wellbeing.Ā

Thanks so much for your support, one mile down, 59 to go!!Ā

Thank you to my sponsors
