Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
Parkinson’s is a complex brain condition that has no cure and gets worse over time. It has more than 40 symptoms, from tremor and pain to anxiety. And Parkinson's is on the rise. Someone is diagnosed every 20 minutes in the UK today. By 2050, the number of people with Parkinson’s worldwide will double to 25 million.
Parkinson’s UK is the charity that’s here to support every Parkinson’s journey, every step of the way. Wherever you’re from, whatever you need.
From searching for a cure and campaigning for better health and care, to funding research into groundbreaking new treatments and running life-changing support services. It’s all driven by one mission: improving life with Parkinson’s.

Edinburgh Women’s 10K – Running for Parkinson’s UK
Tuesday 5th MayOn 20 September 2026, I’ll be running the Edinburgh Women’s 10K to raise money for Parkinson’s UK.
My dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in January 2021, and since then I’ve seen first-hand how much this condition can affect day-to-day life. It’s not just one symptom — it impacts movement, energy, and independence in ways that are difficult to predict and manage.
I’m doing this run to help raise awareness of Parkinson’s and support the work Parkinson’s UK does for people living with the condition. That includes funding research, improving treatment and care, and providing support for individuals and families who are dealing with it every day.
This is something that matters a lot to me, and any support — whether that’s a donation or simply sharing this page — would be really appreciated.
