I'm fundraising for Parkinson's UK in support of my Grandma Avril!
Hi all!
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m super excited to be taking part in the Great North Run Half-Marathon on 8th September 2024 to raise important funds for Parkinson's UK!
Parkinson's UK are a people-powered movement on the verge of major breakthroughs in the disease. They help people to live as well as possible, whilst raising awareness and greater understanding amongst others about the real impact of Parkinson’s.
Having analysed the aftermath of the pandemic, the charity have now reassessed their strategy, promising to deliver in key areas for patients and their support systems. To name a few:
1. They will provide initial funding for 20 new specialist Parkinson’s nurse posts and 20 new therapist posts. These posts will support at least 6,000 more people with Parkinson's each year.
2. They will fund 9 extra NHS service improvement projects to improve health or care for people with Parkinson’s.
3. They will educate 500 new activity providers across the UK about Parkinson’s, and set up 10 new partnerships with physical activity providers.
This charity means a great deal to myself and my family, therefore any donations would be greatly appreciated, big or small, and will certainly help motivate me throughout my GNR training to do my bit in the name of this brilliant organisation!
