Great North Run 2026

Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

I am wanting to take on the Great North Run 2026 because it would mean more than a half marathon for me. I want to do it for my grandad, who lives everyday with Parkinson’s Disease. Watching someone you love slowly lose parts of themselves to this illness is heartbreaking . Watching his courage, strength and determination in the face of such a challenging condition has inspired me in ways I cannot fully explain.
This run will be my way of honouring him- to show he isn’t alone in that fight, and to raise awareness and support for everyone living with Parkinson’s Disease. Every mile I will run will be for him and the families who share a journey like this.
Crossing that finish line won’t just be about me achieving a goal; it’ll be about carrying my grandads spirit with me every step of the way and doing my part to make a difference and support everyone else who has to fight with this disease. Every mile will be for him
