Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
My lovely mum passed away in Oct 25 from a Parkinsons related illness. I’d already signed up for the Bristol Half Marathon before Mum died, so now I will run it in her memory.
She dealt with the illness amazingly, and we all miss her very much.
She would have been very proud of me for doing the run as she was very keen on fitness, but also having a little chuckle as she knew I was not a natural athlete. I’m sure she’ll be there with me on the day willing me on.
Parkinson’s is a complex brain condition that has no cure and gets worse over time. It has more than 40 symptoms, from tremor and pain to anxiety. And Parkinson's is on the rise. Someone is diagnosed every 20 minutes in the UK today. By 2050, the number of people with Parkinson’s worldwide will double to 25 million.
