Great north run
I would like to raise money for Parkinsons UK because my Aunt was diagnosed with the disease about two years ago and it has had a devastating impact on her life. She was a very outgoing person who loved socialising, and taking an active roll in fund raising events to support her local community.
Since being diagnosed she feels she has become a different person. She has lost all of her confidence and now finds socialising, shopping, eating in public, even taking her little dog out for a walk very difficult and embarrassing because of the tremor and lack of balance that Parkinsons causes. It even affects her ability to make herself a cup of tea because she spills the boiling water everywhere and is too unsteady to carry a cup.
The medication has had too many side effects to date, but, she is hoping that eventually there may be something available that will give her a better quality of life. I have never done any running before so I know it's not going to be easy but am sure I could do this for a great cause.
I would like to raise awareness of this debilitating disease and raise money for research into Parkinsons.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m taking part in the Great North Run on 7 September 2025 to raise vital funds for Parkinson's UK.
Please help by sponsoring me whatever you can. All the money raised will go to Parkinson’s UK nurses, to provide much-needed advice, support and information for people who are living with the condition.
Good luck Paul
