Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
I’m taking on the Manchester Half Marathon to raise money for Parkinson’s UK – a charity and a cause that means a lot to me personally.
Parkinson’s has affected friends and family of mine, and I’ve seen first-hand the impact this disease can have, not just on the person living with it, but on everyone who loves and supports them. Seeing people close to me face those challenges is a huge part of what has inspired me to take on a challenge of my own.
Parkinson’s UK provides vital support to people living with Parkinson’s and their families, while funding research to develop better treatments and, ultimately, find a cure.
Running 13.1 miles will be a new achievement for me. When the training gets tough and the miles start to hurt, I’ll be thinking about the people who face much greater challenges every single day.
Every donation will give me that extra bit of motivation to keep pushing towards the finish line, while helping a charity that is making a real difference to so many lives.
