Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

On the 25th of May, I will be tackling the Edinburgh Marathon, my first-ever marathon. I aim to raise as much as possible for Parkinson's UK, so any help, small or big, is greatly appreciated.
Parkinson's is something not often talked about, however, it affects everyone in different ways, with mental and physical effects.
After not feeling himself physically and mentally for a few months, in May 2024, my Dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's. At first, it was a period of readjustment for all of us; however, 10 months on, he is doing the best he has since his diagnosis and is back to doing most of the things he loves. My Dad managed to find the positives even on his harder days, and has always been and continues to be an inspiration for me. Thanks to the incredible work of Parkinson's UK, Parkinson's is now something that can be controlled and that people can live with.
By taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival, I hope to raise awareness for Parkinson's and as much as possible to help fund further breakthroughs and support the Parkinson's community.
