Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
Parkinson’s is a complex brain condition that has no cure and gets worse over time. It has more than 40 symptoms, from tremor and pain to anxiety. And Parkinson's is on the rise. Someone is diagnosed every 20 minutes in the UK today. By 2050, the number of people with Parkinson’s worldwide will double to 25 million.
Parkinson’s UK is the charity that’s here to support every Parkinson’s journey, every step of the way. Wherever you’re from, whatever you need.
From searching for a cure and campaigning for better health and care, to funding research into groundbreaking new treatments and running life-changing support services. It’s all driven by one mission: improving life with Parkinson’s.

Milton Keynes Marathon 2026
Thursday 16th OctEmma was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease earlier in 2023. She has faced so many challenges and continues to face challenges that impact her ability to do the things she loves. Emma continues to work hard with incredibly vulnerable people and it is difficult to put into words the impact she has. I have been able to witness the difference Emma has made and she quite literally changes lives.
Parkinson’s UK has provided Emma and her family with invaluable support which has helped them learn about Young Onset Parkinson’s and how to manage the condition. She has been involved in local groups which has enabled her to meet other people and form relationships with those who understand what she is experiencing. They have provided a safe and inspiring space for her to connect with others at different stages of their condition, learn and feel supported by them.
Emma is one of the most compassionate, kind, selfless and inspirational people I have ever met. She continuously gives to others and dedicates her time and love to people who need it. She has such an amazing ability to make anyone she is with feel like the only person in the room, she brings so much joy to everyone’s lives, even when she is facing some of the most devastating challenges in her own life. Emma always sees the positive and pushes on, even when she is struggling. There will never be good enough words to truly capture or explain how unbelievable this woman is. To be able to do something physically challenging in honour of this amazing woman is a privilege to me. So please, donate what you can to show this beautiful lady that we can continue doing positive things, even when it’s hard.
