Dad

Anyone who knows my dad knows the kind of man he is - kind, generous, fiercely hard working, and wonderfully silly and fun. Parkinson’s doesn’t define him; those incredible qualities, and the deep love he has for his family, define who he is. In 2018, my dad became a grandad for the first time (a role he was born to do), and today he is the proudest grandad to four grandchildren who absolutely adore him.

But behind every smile, Parkinson’s takes its toll. It has taken away so much of his physical and mental freedom - the ability to simply jump up and join in with all the games and play he is itching to do with his grandkids. The constant exhaustion and endless cycle of medication weigh heavily on him every single day. Yet, if you asked the kids, they’d never know. When they look at their grandad, they just see the man who brings out their biggest smiles and loudest laughs.

My dad has spent my whole life showing up for me. Whatever I’ve ever needed, he has been there - giving above and beyond, and constantly believing in me to strive for the very best. So now, it’s my turn to step up for him. With his never ending love and support pushing me forward, I’m taking on 42.2 km for my dad, for everyone living with this condition, and to say a very firm f@&* Parkinson’s. 

I’m running to raise vital funds for Parkinson’s UK; an extraordinary charity dedicated to supporting everyone on their Parkinson’s journey, every step of the way, no matter where they are or what they need.

I’ll be hosting a few fundraisers along the way to help reach my goal. If you are able to donate, no matter how big or small, it would mean the absolute world to me and my family.
