Individual Overseas Runs 2026

Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

What began as a personal cause has grown into a true family effort: I’ll be running alongside my husband, my brother, and my dad—who, at 64, is taking on his very first marathon. We’re doing this not only to raise vital funds for research and support, but also to show people going through this that they’re not facing the journey alone.

Parkinson’s is a complex brain condition with no cure, and it gets worse over time. It has more than 40 symptoms, ranging from tremor and pain to anxiety. And Parkinson’s is on the rise—someone in the UK is diagnosed every 20 minutes. By 2050, the number of people living with Parkinson’s worldwide is expected to double to 25 million.

Parkinson’s UK is the charity that supports every Parkinson’s journey, every step of the way—wherever you’re from and whatever you need. From searching for a cure and campaigning for better health and care, to funding research into groundbreaking new treatments and running life-changing support services, everything they do is driven by one mission: improving life with Parkinson’s.
